We get a lot of calls from convenience and retail store managers and owners looking for a robust entrance alarm or entry alert. What these do is alert workers in a store when someone enters the store. Because the construction of the store is typically masonry and metal, running new wiring for an entrance alert is often too difficult or not cost effective. That same type of construction materials also presents a problem for many entrance alarms because the wireless signal many of them send will “bounce” off the masonry walls.
Security2020.com presents the DA50L-A which is a high powered wireless entrance alarm for retail business security. Through a PIR sensor monited over the area you want to monitor, a wireless signal is transmitted to the plug-in speaker/receiver. This robust product has a range of approximately 1,000 feet and also is available with additional entrance alarm sensors and receivers. You may set the receiver to chime to a specific sensor or have multiple receivers chime to one sensor.

How to start with your DIY Home Security Setup
‘Do it yourself’ Home security is an interesting and inviting concept. You being the best person to analyze the security requirements of your home, can plan, design and implement the security system set up. But most people beginning with DIY home security meet a dead end somewhere down the line. Others end up with a security setup with lots of loopholes. So, before you rush to the nearest security gadgets store and start ordering, it is extremely important that you have a well detailed plan on paper.
The Plan
When you plan the security in your home, start by dividing your home into two areas, the outdoor and the indoor and then focus on each area individually. Let us first look at indoor home security.
Indoor home security
Indoor home security begins with the door and includes any possible entry point into the home. Doors today come in all kinds of shapes, sizes and designs. Some of the sturdier wooden doors of yesteryear have been replaced by fancier looking models that are weaker. The ideal thickness for your doors should be 1 ¾ “at least. Also ensure that the door is a tight fit and there isn’t much space between it and the door jam. Another security enhancement for door is to install a safety wrought iron door before the main wooden door. You can also install electronic security alarms on your main doors. So, if someone attempts to fiddle with the lock or to drill holes into the door, a loud alarm will sound.
Once you secure the door, its time to move on to the windows. Windows are the easiest and the most chosen way by burglars to break into a home. One of the best ways to prevent a break in via windows is to install a metal grill. If you do not wish to install a metal grill for aesthetic reasons, then you can replace the glass windows with break resistant plastic. Replace ordinary window locks with high quality tamper proof locks and use magnetic sensors.
Add ons
Once you have the doors and windows covered, you have already won half the war. There are many more devices like motion sensors, CCTV cameras and duress alarm systems that you can use to protect your home. In the next article, we will look at securing the exterior of your home.

Alright, so you have decided to install a home security system at home. That’s one of the best decisions that you may have made in a long time. But a visit to the security store tells you that you have very little information about the seemingly limitless number of options available in burglar alarms and you would be better off with some information about the myriad models and their features. This guide is written to help you with just that. At the end of this, you will be armed with some basic tips to help you select a homes security system for you to make a wise and informed decision.
Home Security System
The world of home security systems is huge and there are models in all kinds of shapes and sizes. But unlike a camera, the size or shape of the alarm isn’t a matter of concern. What matters is the kind of protection it provides, the way it can be controlled and the way it can be installed. Now, there are closed circuit burglar alarms as well as open circuit burglar alarms and in case the names aren’t self explanatory, closed circuit alarms allow electricity to flow until the circuit is broken. In other words, a door or a window is opened. An alarm will sound the moment the circuit breaks. Open circuit alarms are just the opposite.
Wired and wireless
Secondly, there are hardwired alarms as well as wireless security systems. These can be operated and controlled with an alphanumeric keypad that grants access, arms and disarms the alarm unit, as well as sends out a distress signal to the monitoring company (if you have signed up for one). Burglar alarms can also be linked with motion sensor units which in turn can be connected to the lights. In this case, the moment motion is detected in the protected zone, the lights will come on and an alarm will sound catching the burglar completely off guard.
Ensure that you buy an alarm that has battery backup and displays the battery life. The last thing that you need is an alarm with a dead battery in it. Installation is relatively easy and you can carry it out yourself. Lastly, compare the features and the pricing and invest in a good, reliable alarm.

As a parent, nothing scares me more than losing a child. I know that sort of sounds silly but I don’t know of a parent out there who hasn’t had at least one or two scares. This past weekend, my wife and I took the three kids to the mall. The oldest stayed with mom in the Pottery Barn and I was out in the main area with the middle child (4 yrs old) and the baby. While I was putting the baby’s shoes back on his feet, my son started wandering back through the mall looking for mommy. I turned my head for an instance and he had wandered off. You want to talk about freaking out. This was it!
Needless to say, I was on pins and needles most of the day…..Nathan tends to wander, wherever we go. It doesn’t matter how many times we try to explain it to him, he just wanders, it is what he does. I started thinking about families with autistic children. Last week, we had a lady call the company who was looking for something that could help her monitor her child. She has an autistic child that tends to wander in and out of his room all night. The previous night, her child had walk out of his room in the middle of the night and hid in the closet where she did not find him until the next morning. She practically had a nervous breakdown.
We did two things for her. One was to recommend that she visit the website of the National Autism Foundation. They have a great page on safety for autistic children. If your child is not autistic, I would recommend taking a look at these safety tips anyway. Secondly, we recommended the Voice Alert 6. This what’s called a voice annunciation system. You record a message for up to 6 zones. Each of the zones can have an unlimited number of monitoring devices tied to it. For instance, in this situation, I would put a PIR based motion detector over the bedroom d0or. When motion is detected (the child leaving the room for example) a wireless signal is sent to the speaker/receiver. Then it would play a message your recorded like “movement at front door” to which you could investigate. You could also put a vibration sensor on gate or fence. If vibration is detected, or the gate is opened, the receiver would play a different message that you have recorded. With six different zones, this is a very dynamic system. This is a very easy to use exit alarm that is a breeze to install and set up. Six zones gives you plenty of room to grow the system. You can add as many PIR motion sensors and vibration sensors per zone as you would like.

It is better to be safe than sorry. We have the VA6000S-A installed at our home to monitor any areas we want notice of to ensure our kids safety. They will wander, I just want to be there to find them!

Security2020.com has a new outdoor fake security camera with a flashing LED light. The flashing light is powered by rechargeable batteries that recharged from a solar cell placed on top of the camera. Most fake security cameras are mounted up and pointed downward. The solar cell is secured to the top of the camera so you cannot see it.
This mode, the SC2060-OD-SOLAR is made in house and comes with 2 2700 mAH rechargeable batteries. The life expectancy of the batteries is roughly 5-7 years, depending on the environmental conditions. Cold weather tends to drain batteries more than warmer climates.
Just like the non solar fake security models in the SC2060 family, they are made with anodized aluminum outdoor camera housings with stainless steel screws protecting it in even the most harsh environments. These are the same camera housing used all across America to house live cameras. The SC2060 product line also comes with a simulated camera front visible from the clear viewing window. This is a great fake security camera, the best we have.

Has the sight of a CCTV camera ever made you nervous? Cameras have that effect on the minds of people even though they may not be burglars or thieves. So can you imagine what the sight of a camera can do to a real burglar? It will cause jitters and doubts whether he or she should proceed with the crime or simply let go.
Indoor fake cameras are designed for this very purpose, to scare away burglars and intruders. In other words, to prevent crime and boy, are they effective! An indoor dummy camera is a replica of a real camera complete with an original camera housing and lens, minus the electronics inside.
Please keep in mind that they cannot record any footage!
There are several indoor dummy camera models including the dummy dome camera, the dummy IR camera and so on. Mount it at a place where it will catch the eye of every visitor to your home or office!

Remember “Little Kevin” in the movie Home Alone? One innovative thing he did, especially for a little kid, was to turn on multiple lights in the home to give the impression he wasn’t “home alone.” Now, you can effortlessly create a similar impression easily with the help of our dusk to dawn light controls. As the name suggests, these light controls will switch on the lights at dusk and switch them off at dawn even when you are not at home. Ideal to create an impression that the house is being occupied.
Our Dusk/Dawn light controls are built with photocells that detect the light in the surroundings and activate the lights in your home accordingly. And they have features like a timer that switches off the lights at regular intervals to conserve energy.

Add our dusk/dawn light controls to enhance your existing security setup.

Dummy security domes are undetectable from actual, or live camera domes. These are the security camera domes you see attached to the ceiling in retails stores across America. Some stores use only fake dummy domes, some use only real ones, and some will use a mixture of the two. Because dummy domes are usually mounted to the ceiling, it is virtually impossible to tell the difference. I mean, what person is going to stand under a dome to stare at it in order to figure out if it is real or not? Here is a picture of one the models of dummy domes we carry in stock:

This particular model has a clear dome with a fake camera lens mounted in it. Can you tell the difference?
